Biography

Formed in São Paulo in 1983, 365 is a notable Brazilian rock band that emerged from the city's vibrant punk and new wave underground. Initially born out of former members of pioneering punk groups like Lixomania and Psykóze, the band underwent several early line-up shifts before establishing a definitive formation in 1985 featuring Carlos Finho on vocals, Ari Baltazar on guitar, and Miro de Melo on drums. With the arrival of bassist Mingau, the group discarded its earlier material and developed a distinctive post-punk sound that critics frequently described as combat rock.

In 1986, the band released a disco-mix featuring the tracks "São Paulo" and "Canção para Marchar", with the former becoming a massive radio hit and an enduring classic of Brazilian rock. This success paved the way for their self-titled debut album in 1987, which included a cover of Zeca Afonso's "Grândola, Vila Morena". Over the decades, 365 continued to evolve, releasing albums such as Cenas de um Novo País and Do Outro Lado do Rio, while enduring numerous line-up changes that involved musicians like Callegari. Despite hiatuses and member departures, including Finho's temporary and permanent exits, the band remained active under the leadership of Miro de Melo, cementing its legacy in the history of Brazilian alternative music alongside contemporaries like Inocentes and Ratos de Porão.
