Biography
Aborto Elétrico was a prominent Brazilian punk rock band formed in Brasília in 1978, actively performing until March 1982. The group's original lineup featured Renato Russo on bass, André Pretorius on guitar, and Fê Lemos on drums, being part of the celebrated Turma da Colina movement alongside other fundamental names in Brazilian national rock.
The band's trajectory was marked by constant lineup changes and intense internal conflicts, resulting in musicians such as Flávio Lemos and Ico Ouro Preto passing through the group's ranks. Despite their short duration and having played few shows, the repertoire created by Aborto Elétrico served as the seed for the emergence of two of the biggest Brazilian rock bands starting in 1982: Capital Inicial and Legião Urbana.
The group's definitive end occurred in 1982 after persistent disagreements, but their legacy remained alive through classic songs like "Que País é Esse?" and "Veraneio Vascaína". Years later, the band's original repertoire was revisited and recorded in special projects, cementing the historical importance of Aborto Elétrico in the genesis of Brasília's rock scene, alongside artists like Renato Russo and Fê Lemos.
