Biography

Adão José Angrisanis, known professionally as Adão Ferreira, is a Brazilian singer, composer, and producer who has left an indelible mark on the sertanejo raiz genre. Born in Maracaí, São Paulo, on June 21, 1951, his musical journey began at a young age, influenced by his family's circus background. He first gained recognition in 1962 as part of the duo "Adão e Eva," recording his debut album for the now-defunct Copacabana label and appearing on various television shows.

After the duo "Adão e Eva" disbanded, Adão Ferreira continued to explore musical partnerships, eventually transitioning to studio work in 1968 as a musician and producer. His talent quickly propelled him to become a sought-after collaborator and producer for numerous iconic sertanejo artists, including Trio Parada Dura, Gilberto e Gilmar, Tonico e Tinoco, João Mineiro e Marciano, and Chitãozinho e Xororó, among many others. He is credited with producing over 20 albums and numerous hit songs, preserving and promoting the traditional viola caipira sound.

Throughout his extensive career, Adão Ferreira has been recognized as a pivotal figure in sertanejo raiz, often referred to as the "father of sertanejo raiz." His work, characterized by poetic lyrics and a deep connection to rural Brazilian life, has influenced generations of musicians. Even into his later years, he continues to be active in music, collaborating with artists like Gardel and performing, ensuring that the rich tradition of Brazilian country music remains vibrant.
