Biography

Adelaide Chiozzo was a prominent Brazilian singer, accordionist, and actress, born in São Paulo. She became a major star of Atlântida Cinematográfica, starring in 23 films, including musical comedies alongside iconic performers like Oscarito and Grande Otelo. Her musical career flourished as a renowned singer at Rádio Nacional, where she performed for 27 years in celebrated programs such as "Alma do Sertão" and "Gente Que Brilha". Over her decades-long career, she recorded more than twenty albums, delivering memorable hits like "Beijinho Doce" and "Sabiá na Gaiola", and earned the distinction of being Brazil's first "Namoradinha do Brasil".

Alongside her husband, the respected guitarist Carlos Matos, she toured extensively across almost every Brazilian city with her famous accordion. Her 1975 show, "Cada um Tem o Acordeon que Merece", was acclaimed by critics as the best production of the year. In addition to her musical and film achievements, she expanded her career into television, acting in Rede Globo telenovelas such as Feijão Maravilha and Deus nos Acuda.

Her enduring legacy in Brazilian popular culture was further recognized when she received the honorary title of citizen of Ceará in 2003. Chiozzo passed away in Rio de Janeiro in 2020, leaving behind a remarkable artistic footprint that intertwined music, cinema, and radio history alongside contemporaries like Dilu Melo.
