Biography

Adilson Ramos de Ataíde is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born in Rio de Janeiro on April 7, 1945. Before beginning his solo career, he was a member of the group Os Cometas and drew early inspiration from the rock sounds of international acts like Paul Anka and Neil Sedaka, alongside domestic influences such as Cauby Peixoto and Orlando Dias. Known for his romantic style, he built a consistent recording career characterized by strong record sales and extensive live performances throughout Brazil.

Throughout his decades-long career, Ramos has achieved numerous notable hits and milestone recordings. In 1963, he co-wrote his signature song "Sonhar contigo" with Armelindo Leandro, a track that would later be covered by various artists and featured in the television miniseries Hilda Furacão. His extensive discography includes over sixteen LPs, twenty CDs, and two DVDs, highlighted by popular records like 1977's "Eu e O Tempo" and the 1984 LP "Em nome do amor," which placed eight tracks among the most played songs of the period.

Beyond his recorded output, Ramos relocated to Recife in 1982, where he eventually received honorary citizenship and continued to draw massive crowds at major events like the Festival da Seresta. In 2015, he celebrated his 55-year career with a recorded performance at the Teatro Boa Vista that was later broadcast as a television special. His enduring presence in Brazilian romantic music connects him to a tradition shared by performers such as Agnaldo Timóteo and Elymar Santos.
