Biography

Adriano Ferreira Cintra, better known as Adriano Cintra, is a Brazilian musician, producer, and songwriter born in São Paulo on May 21, 1974. He is recognized as a multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, bass, drums, piano, harmonica, and keyboards. Cintra began his career in the São Paulo independent scene with the garage rock trio Thee Butchers' Orchestra, and also participated in other projects like Ultrasom and Caxabaxa, in addition to the band I Love Miami.

The height of his notoriety came with the band Cansei de Ser Sexy (CSS), formed in 2003. Cintra was one of the founders, main songwriter, drummer, and producer of the group, which achieved international success with the Sub Pop label. The band toured extensively in Europe and North America, opening shows for artists such as Ladytron and Klaxons, and performing at festivals like Coachella and Glastonbury. In 2011, Cintra left CSS, citing disagreements with the other members.

Following his departure from Cansei de Ser Sexy, Adriano Cintra pursued his solo career and other projects. In 2012, he formed the duo Madrid with Marina Vello. He released his first solo album, "Animal", in 2014, followed by "Adriano Cintra Is Dead" (2015) and "Nine Times" (2017). Cintra also worked as a recording engineer for Tom Zé's album "Com Defeito de Fabricação" in 1998 and composes soundtracks for fashion shows. His work is marked by the fusion of rock elements with electronic music, creating a distinctive sound in Brazilian music.
