Biography

Aeroilis is a Brazilian alternative rock band founded in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, in 2001. Originally named Aerowillys after the vintage car, the group changed their spelling to avoid confusion with a band from São Paulo. The founding members, Raphael Campos and Arvid Auras, along with bassist Alan Wenning, pioneered the "novo movimento" in Brazil, a scene where Christian artists created music without explicit religious pretensions. They paved the way for subsequent alternative groups like Tanlan and Palavrantiga.

The band's self-titled debut album was independently released in 2004, later catching the attention of the Bompastor label for distribution. Their second album, Nada Mais Além, followed in 2010 with a heavier emphasis on piano and keyboards, featuring popular tracks such as "Cega Inocência" and "Passos Lentos". After facing personal and financial challenges, the group announced an end to their activities in 2013, only to reunite as a trio in 2019 and eventually release new material like the single "Entardecer" in 2020.

Musically, Aeroilis drew heavy inspiration from 1990s British rock, post-britpop, and American alternative rock acts like Travis, Muse, and Keane. Their work has achieved cult status within Christian rock lists in Brazil. They share thematic and stylistic parallels with Brazilian underground artists such as Tanlan and Palavrantiga.
