Biography
Agentss was a Brazilian electro pop band formed in São Paulo in 1981, recognized as the first Brazilian electronic music group. The group stood out for its eccentric visual style with strong influences from science fiction and cyberpunk, as well as using lyrics sung in their own dialect called "elektrotranzlyriks", which mixed Portuguese, French, German, English, and alien languages. Leadership was in the hands of vocalist Kodiak Bachine, accompanied by musicians such as Miguel Barella and Eduardo Amarante.
Despite their short career, the band released striking EPs such as their 1981 debut, which contained the tracks "Agentss" and "Angra", and the 1983 work via WEA, produced by Pena Schmidt, featuring hits like "Professor Digital" and "Cidade Industrial". Songs like "Eletricidade" consolidated the group's avant-garde aesthetic in the São Paulo scene before the band dissolved in late 1983 due to philosophical reasons pointed out by Bachine.
Following the end of Agentss, the members participated in other fundamental post-punk and new wave projects in the country, with Miguel Barella joining Voluntários da Pátria and Eduardo Amarante passing through lineups such as Azul 29 and Zero. The band's cult heritage remains a milestone of electronic innovation and experimentalism in the history of national music.
