Biography
The group Água de Vintém is a choro ensemble formed in 2011 in the city of Piracicaba, in the interior of São Paulo. Since its foundation, the group has stood out in the new generation of Brazilian choro, combining research and interpretation of renowned composers with a solid original production.
Currently composed of Vitor Casagrande (mandolin and tenor guitar), Saulo Ligo (cavaquinho), Guilherme Girardi (7-string acoustic guitar), Marcus Godoy (acoustic guitar and electric guitar), and Xeina Barros (pandeiro), Água de Vintém has performed at several important festivals and events of the genre, such as the Avaré Choro Festival, the Semana Seu Geraldo de Música in Leme, and the Villa-Lobos Festival. The group has also shared the stage with great names of Brazilian music, such as Toninho Carrasqueira, Pedro Amorim, Alessandro Penezzi, and Nailor Proveta.
Água de Vintém released its debut album, "Café da Dona Chica", in 2013, featuring 12 unreleased choros, mostly written by the members themselves. In 2015, the group paid tribute to the Piracicaba-born acoustic guitarist Sergio Belluco with an album of unreleased choros from his work. The third album, "O choro nosso", released in 2019, features 14 original songs, exploring the rhythmic diversity of choro and incorporating instruments such as the electric guitar.
