Biography
Aída Gnattali was a Brazilian pianist, born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, around 1910. Sister of the renowned maestro Radamés Gnattali, her name, as well as those of her brothers Radamés and Ernani, was inspired by the opera "Aida" by Giuseppe Verdi, reflecting the passion of her father, an Italian immigrant, for this musical genre.
Her musical career was marked by collaboration with her brother, Radamés Gnattali. Together, they participated in important recordings, such as the LP "Brasiliana Nº 7 e 8" (1958), where they performed compositions by Radamés. In 1960, Aída joined the Continental Quartet, which became the Continental Sextet, embarking on a successful tour of Europe to promote Brazilian popular music. That same year, she performed alongside Radamés on Rádio MEC, playing piano works by Ernesto Nazareth.
Aída Gnattali's collaboration with Radamés Gnattali on arrangements for two pianos yielded notable recordings, including pieces by Ernesto Nazareth and Radamés's own compositions, such as "Suíte Coreográfica" and "Brasiliana nº 8". Her work as a pianist and arranger contributed to the dissemination and appreciation of Brazilian music, especially in the context of concert music and popular music.
