Biography

Alan & Aladim is a Brazilian sertanejo duo formed in 1976. The original lineup consisted of Edmilson Fernandes Machado (Alan) and José Nascimento Cardoso (Aladim). Alan was born in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, in 1962, while Aladim hailed from Visconde do Rio Branco, Minas Gerais, born in 1956. The duo's career began after Aladim gave Alan a zero score in a music competition, leading to their eventual partnership.

Their first LP was released in 1981, and they went on to release several more albums, achieving significant success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their music, characterized by romantic lyrics and a blend of traditional and modern sertanejo sounds, resonated with a wide audience. Hits like "Liguei Pra Dizer Que Te Amo" and "Dois Passarinhos" became anthems of the genre, selling millions of copies and earning them gold and platinum records. They were also pioneers in creating music for children within the sertanejo genre.

Tragically, the original formation of Alan & Aladim ended on October 1, 1992, with the death of Aladim at the age of 35 due to complications from a dental surgery. Alan has since continued the duo's legacy, forming new partnerships and releasing music under the Alan & Aladim name, ensuring their enduring contribution to Brazilian sertanejo music.
