Biography

Alberto Paz was born in 1915 and stood out on the Brazilian musical scene as a composer and tambourine player. His artistic career gained great prominence in 1938, the year he joined the celebrated vocal and instrumental group Anjos do Inferno, taking over the role of playing the tambourine in place of Milton Campos.

As a member of Anjos do Inferno, Alberto Paz remained with the group until 1942, a period during which the ensemble consolidated its importance in the golden age of radio and Brazilian popular music. After his departure, he was replaced by Hélio Verry, but continued to be active behind the scenes of musical creation.

Throughout his career, Paz composed several songs in partnership with important names of the era, such as Severino Filho, Dilermando Reis, and Carlos Monteiro de Souza. His works marked an era and were recorded by various national music artists, reflecting the creative richness of MPB in the first half of the 20th century.
