Biography

Alberto Pucheu is a prominent Brazilian poet, essayist, and literary theorist born in 1966. He holds a position as a professor of Literary Theory at the Faculty of Letters of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and is also a researcher for CNPq and a "Cientista do Nosso Estado" by Faperj. His work often delves into the intersection of poetry, philosophy, and contemporary social and political issues, reflecting a deep engagement with the Brazilian context.

Puchéu's literary output began in 1993 with "Na cidade aberta." Since then, he has published numerous poetry collections, including "A fronteira desguarnecida" and "Escritos da freqüentação." His essay collection "Pelo colorido, para além do cinzento" earned him the Mário de Andrade Literary Essay Award from the National Library Foundation. He has also maintained a blog, "O cuidado da poesia," and contributed poems and essays to various academic journals, literary portals, and newspapers both nationally and internationally.

His more recent works, such as "Poema para a catástrofe do nosso tempo" (published in "vidas rasteiras" in 2020), directly address the turbulent political landscape and the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. Pucheu's poetry is characterized by its critical lens, its exploration of existential themes, and its powerful imagery, often serving as a form of resistance and reflection on the complexities of modern Brazilian society.
