Biography

Alessandro Buzo is a Brazilian writer, social activist, columnist, reporter, and filmmaker who has dedicated his work to highlighting peripheral culture and urban life. He began his literary journey in the year 2000 with his debut book O Trem - Baseado em Fatos Reais, which notably inspired the song O Trem by the influential rap group RZO. Throughout his career, he has expanded his literary output with works such as Suburbano Convicto - O cotidiano do Itaim Paulista, Guerreira, Toda Brisa Tem Seu Dia de Ventania, and Favela Toma Conta.

In addition to his writing, Buzo has made significant contributions to cinema and television, directing the 2006 film Profissão MC and joining the cultural television program Manos e Minas in 2008 to present the segment Buzão. His dedication to marginalized communities and hip hop culture earned him multiple awards at the Hutúz Festival. He was also selected as one of the contributing authors for the literary anthology Enter, organized by Heloísa Teixeira.

Continuing his media presence, Buzo began collaborating with the news program SPTV 1ª Edição on Rede Globo in 2011, hosting the Friday segment SP Cultura to showcase the vibrant arts of São Paulo's outskirts. He has further documented the literary scene through the collection Pelas Periferias do Brasil and written columns for publications like Boletim do Kaos. His multifaceted career bridges literature, journalism, and social activism within the Brazilian urban landscape.
