Biography

Alessandro Penezzi was born in Piracicaba, São Paulo, on February 19, 1974. Raised in a musical family, he was strongly influenced by his father, Walkir Pereira Penezzi, and his maternal grandfather, Francisco Ernesto dos Santos. Since childhood, he developed a deep passion for the rhythms of choro, samba, and seresta, standing out early on as a talented instrumentalist. He graduated in classical guitar from the Piracicaba School of Music and completed his bachelor's degree in Popular Music from Unicamp, consolidating a solid technical foundation that unites erudition with traditional Brazilian popular music.

Throughout his career, Penezzi has established himself as one of the country's great guitarists and multi-instrumentalists, mastering the six- and seven-string guitar, cavaquinho, mandolin, and several other instruments. He has performed alongside major exponents of national music, such as Yamandú Costa, Dominguinhos, Beth Carvalho, and the Zimbo Trio. His versatility also led him to be part of prominent projects, such as Trio Quintessência and the group Choro Rasgado, in addition to undertaking international tours across countries in Europe, Africa, and the Americas.

In addition to his intense activity as a concert performer and arranger, Penezzi plays a fundamental role in music education, working as a teacher, giving workshops, and writing for specialized publications. His discography is vast and award-winning, including acclaimed works such as the album Quebranto, recorded in partnership with Yamandú Costa and winner of the Brazilian Music Award. With a career marked by technical excellence and deep respect for the roots of choro and the Brazilian guitar, Alessandro Penezzi is an unavoidable reference in national instrumental music.
