Biography

Alex Gonzaga is a renowned Brazilian gospel singer, songwriter, and the lead vocalist of the pop and gospel band Novo Som, which he co-founded in the 1980s alongside Lenilton. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has earned immense respect and maturity within the Brazilian Christian music scene, establishing himself as one of its most prestigious interpreters. In addition to his enduring work with Novo Som, Gonzaga successfully launched a solo career in 2001 with the release of the album Canções, Eternas Canções, exploring a musical style closer to congregational worship and MPB while collaborating with artists such as Eyshila and Mito.

Continuing his successful solo trajectory, he released Vou Continuar in 2003, followed by subsequent volumes of his celebrated cover series that revisited classic evangelical anthems from the 1980s and 1990s, featuring notable tracks originally performed by artists like Álvaro Tito, Marcos Góes, and Armando Filho. His ability to balance a prolific solo career—marked by albums like Canções, Eternas Canções 2 and Canções, Eternas Canções Vol. 3—with his ongoing commitment to Novo Som has solidified his legacy. Alongside his musical endeavors, Gonzaga has also expanded his media presence, presenting the radio program Canções Para Sempre on Rádio Melodia.
