Biography

Alexandre Dias is a Brazilian pianist, researcher, and piano teacher born in Brasília on January 16, 1984. He began his piano studies at the age of 10 and later pursued advanced training with notable teachers such as Elza Kazuko Gushikem and Neusa França. Dias also engaged in masterclasses with renowned pianists and composers, broadening his musical education.

Parallel to his musical pursuits, Dias earned degrees in Biological Sciences from the University of Brasília, specializing in Bioacoustics. However, by 2013, he dedicated himself exclusively to music, focusing on his career as a pianist, researcher, and educator. His research has a strong emphasis on Brazilian piano music, particularly the works of Ernesto Nazareth, whom he has extensively studied and documented.

Dias is the founder of the Instituto Piano Brasileiro (IPB), an organization dedicated to rescuing and disseminating Brazilian piano traditions. Through the IPB, he maintains a website with extensive databases, a podcast, and a YouTube channel, all aimed at promoting Brazilian piano music. He has also been instrumental in digitizing and preserving significant musical archives, including those of prominent Brazilian pianists and composers.
