Biography
Alexandre Lemos is a composer, lyricist, multi-instrumentalist, and music producer from Rio de Janeiro, born on July 18, 1959. His career in Brazilian music spans from the 1970s, with a diverse body of work covering MPB, soundtracks, and advertising jingles.
In the 1970s, Lemos was a member of several musical ensembles, most notably the group Fulia, alongside Fred Pereira and Zé Henrique. With this band, he performed at festivals and TV shows. In the 1980s, he expanded his work to composing jingles and established a partnership with North American musician Gabriel O'Meara. In the early 1990s, he founded the "Confraria dos Compositores", a musical movement that brought together over 30 songwriters and promoted hundreds of performances in nightclubs and cultural venues in Rio de Janeiro.
Throughout his career, Alexandre Lemos has had his compositions recorded by renowned MPB artists, such as Ney Matogrosso, who performed "Novamente" (in partnership with Fred Martins), a song that was also part of the soundtrack of the telenovela "Esperança" on Rede Globo. His works have also been included in soundtracks for series and other telenovelas by the network. Lemos released the CD "Lucidez" in 2003 and, more recently, made 11 albums available on streaming platforms, consolidating his presence in Brazilian popular music.
