Biography

Alice Pink Pank, stage name of Alice Vermeulen, is a Dutch singer, keyboardist, and classical ballet teacher who built part of her musical career in Brazil. She immigrated to the country in 1980 and, during the six years she lived there, she became a notable figure in the Brazilian new wave and pop scene of the 1980s. Her artistic journey in Brazil connected her with important names in national music, such as Júlio Barroso and Lobão.

At the beginning of her career in Brazil, Alice Pink Pank worked as a backing vocalist for the band Gang 90 & Absurdettes, a period during which she also had a relationship with Júlio Barroso, the group's leader. Gang 90 & Absurdettes was one of the crucial formations for the rebirth of Brazilian pop rock at the time. After leaving the band, Alice joined the first lineup of Lobão e os Ronaldos, using the stage name Alice R. in reference to the band. Her participation with these artists contributed to the sound and musical landscape of 1980s Brazil.

In addition to her work in Brazil, Alice Pink Pank also ventured into international music, having recorded vocals for the song "Shadows and Tall Trees" on U2's debut album, "Boy", in 1980, even before the album's release. After returning to the Netherlands, she continued her musical career, participating in projects such as the band Longstoryshort and the duo The Dreamteam. Currently, Alice also works as a classical ballet teacher, maintaining a connection with her artistic roots.
