Almir Ricardi emerged in the Brazilian music scene in the mid-1960s, initially aligning himself with the Jovem Guarda movement, a popular youth-oriented rock and pop phenomenon in Brazil. His early career was influenced by this vibrant era, and he released his first LP on RCA Camden. Ricardi later transitioned his musical focus, dedicating himself to soul music and developing a notable presence within the Brazilian soul and funk scene.

His work gained traction among DJs, particularly due to his 1984 album "Festa Funk," which was produced by the renowned duo Lincoln Olivetti and Robson Jorge. This album, and earlier singles produced by the same duo, helped propel "Festa Funk" to wider recognition. The album is characterized by its danceable tracks, with songs like "Super Man" being highlighted for their quality and contemporary sound. "Festa Funk" also featured a collaboration with Erasmo Carlos on the track "Raça."

Ricardi's contributions to Brazilian soul and funk music have cemented his place in the genre. His music continues to be appreciated, with reissues of his work, such as the "Festa Funk" LP released in Portugal in 2022, and compilations that feature his tracks, underscoring his lasting impact on Brazilian popular music.
