Biography

The group Almôndegas was a pioneering band in creating a unique language for pop music from Rio Grande do Sul, emerging in Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, in the early 1970s. The band blended elements of gaucho folklore with MPB and rock, creating an original and creative sound that stood out in the southern music scene of the country.

The original lineup featured Kleiton Ramil, Kledir Ramil, Gilnei Silveira, Pery Souza, and Quico Castro Neves. Before releasing their first LP in 1975, the band was already achieving success with songs recorded for Rádio Continental in Porto Alegre. In 1975, they released the self-titled album "Almôndegas", followed by "Aqui", which had the song "A Canção da Meia-Noite" included in the soundtrack of Rede Globo's soap opera "Saramandaia" in 1976.

In 1977, the band moved to Rio de Janeiro and released the albums "Alhos com Bugalhos" and "Circo de Marionetes", the latter considered the pinnacle of their career. In 1979, the group ended its activities, but in March 2023, some of its members reunited for shows in Porto Alegre and Pelotas, celebrating the trajectory of the band that became a reference in the history of gaucho culture and Brazilian Popular Music.
