Biography
Alok Achkar Peres Petrillo, known simply as Alok, was born in Goiânia in 1991 and has established himself as one of the greatest exponents of global electronic music and the Brazilian DJ with the highest international profile. Son of pioneering psy trance DJs Swarup and Ekanta, Alok grew up immersed in the universe of electronic music alongside his twin brother Bhaskar. He began his artistic journey in childhood, founding the project Lógica with his brother during their adolescence. After the duo dissolved, Alok migrated to house music, building a solid solo career that led him to sign with the Dutch record label Spinnin' Records and reach the top of global charts with hits like "Hear Me Now," in partnership with Bruno Martini and Zeeba.
Throughout his career, Alok has accumulated historic milestones, such as being the first Brazilian to enter DJ Mag's Top 5, becoming an ambassador for Tomorrowland in Brazil, and performing the iconic "Show of the Century" on Copacabana Beach for about one million people. In addition to his musical relevance, he stands out for his cultural and environmental activism, founding the Keep Art Human movement and collaborating with indigenous peoples on the album O Futuro é Ancestral, a project nominated for a Latin Grammy. His strong influence on the Brazilian scene also reverberates through partnerships with renowned names like Gilberto Gil, as well as engaging with the legacy of artists such as Criolo, Emicida, and Racionais MC's.
As an entrepreneur and philanthropist, Alok created the Alok Institute, injecting tens of millions of reals into social, educational, and environmental projects in Brazil and abroad, with a strong focus on supporting indigenous communities and combating social exclusion. Recognized internationally, he was listed by TIME magazine among the most influential climate leaders in the world, combining cutting-edge technology, large-scale drone shows, and a strong social commitment.
