Amália Rodrigues was a renowned Portuguese singer and actress, widely acclaimed as the greatest exponent of fado and one of the great names in 20th-century music. Although her origins and artistic base were in Portugal, she maintained a deep and lasting connection with Brazil, where she held long concert residencies—such as her eight-month run at the Casino Copacabana in the 1940s—and recorded landmark albums, such as Amália no Canecão.
