Biography

Amanda Santiago is a Brazilian singer and songwriter who emerged from the vibrant music scene of Salvador, Bahia. Her musical journey began with a strong inclination towards music, influenced by her father, the composer Lui Muritiba. After pursuing musical specialization in San Francisco, USA, she was invited by Carlinhos Brown to audition for the female voice of his group, Timbalada. Her acceptance into the group came on April 27, 1999, her 18th birthday, marking a significant milestone in her career.

Santiago was a member of Timbalada for eight years, a period deeply influenced by the rich cultural environment of Candeal. During her time with the group, she also dedicated herself to researching sounds and instruments. In 2007, she embarked on a solo career, further exploring her artistic vision. In 2011, she introduced "Eletroaxé," a musical style created by Carlinhos Brown that blends Bahian rhythms with electronic music, showcasing her innovative approach to the genre.

Throughout her career, Amanda Santiago has been recognized for her energetic performances and ability to fuse various musical styles. She received the "Revelation Singer" award at the Bahian Carnival in 2002. Her solo work includes the live CD and DVD "Movimento Kombinação" (2009) and the "Projeto Kombinação" (2010), which merges music and art. She has also been involved in projects focused on music education, such as a workshop for making musical instruments in 2011.
