Biography

Amaro Carvalho de Siqueira was a pioneering Brazilian classical guitarist, composer, and educator born in Areia Branca, Rio Grande do Norte. Throughout his life, he established himself as a central figure and a major expression of the guitar in the Northeast of Brazil, playing a fundamental role in the advancement of academic guitar instruction in the region.

In addition to his contributions to music education and performance, he was recognized internationally and nationally, earning mentions in publications such as The Guitar Review alongside contemporaries of the classical guitar. His artistic legacy was further preserved through archival projects and radio programs celebrating Brazilian guitarists, sharing the cultural landscape with notable artists like Fábio Zanon.

Beyond his enduring musical pursuits, Siqueira also dedicated part of his professional life to public service, working as a police delegate in the state of Pernambuco. He passed away in Recife in 1970, leaving behind a respected legacy as both an artist and a teacher in northeastern Brazil.
