Biography

José Amazan Silva was born in Campina Grande, Paraíba, on October 5, 1963, but was raised in the town of Jardim do Seridó, in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte. Since childhood, he showed a great appreciation for poetry and northeastern cultural expressions, starting to play the accordion in his adolescence. After returning to Campina Grande in the early 1980s, he joined the native culture group Tropeiros da Borborema, which opened doors for him to perform in several Brazilian states and abroad.

Having played with forró trios such as "Os Três do Forró" and "Festejo Nordestino", Amazan consolidated his musical trajectory by releasing his first solo studio album, entitled "Naturalmente", in 1989. Throughout his career, he stood out not only as a singer and accordionist, but also as a cordel poet and writer, publishing literary works such as "Palavra De Nordestino" and "Nordeste Em Carne e Osso". Furthermore, his family maintained a strong connection to music and the artistic environment, influencing names like his son Luan Estilizado.

An uncompromising defender of northeastern roots, Amazan built a solid discography focused on traditional forró, remaining faithful to the genre's authenticity without resorting to excessive commercial appeals. Alongside his artistic career, he expanded his activities into entrepreneurship — founding the Leticce accordion factory — and political life, having served as mayor of Jardim do Seridó. His legacy remains inextricably linked to the dissemination and valorization of the accordion and backwoods culture in Brazil.
