Amilton Godoy is a highly acclaimed Brazilian pianist, composer, and arranger, widely recognized as one of the country's most influential jazz and popular music figures. Born in Bauru, São Paulo, on March 2, 1941, Godoy's career spans over seven decades, leaving an indelible mark on Brazilian music. He gained national and international fame as a founding member of the legendary Zimbo Trio in 1964, a group that revolutionized instrumental music in Brazil and achieved immense popularity, even surpassing The Beatles in record sales at one point. The trio's innovative approach to samba and jazz created a unique "Samba/Jazz" genre that resonated with audiences worldwide.

Beyond his work with the Zimbo Trio, Amilton Godoy has had a prolific solo career and has been a pivotal figure in music education. He co-founded the CLAM (Centro Livre de Aprendizagem Musical) in São Paulo, which has become one of Brazil's largest and most respected popular music schools, nurturing over 40,000 musicians. Godoy's pedagogical methods, particularly in modern harmony, are foundational in music education across Brazil. His arrangements, including the iconic rendition of "Garota de Ipanema," have introduced Brazilian instrumental music to a global audience.

Godoy's extensive discography includes nearly 100 albums, both with the Zimbo Trio and as a solo artist, as well as numerous collaborations.
