Ana Clara is a Brazilian singer born in Rio de Janeiro on October 18, 1961. She emerged during the rise of carioca samba and pagode, releasing her self-titled debut album in 1982 through Selo Pérgola. Throughout the 1980s, she collaborated with prominent figures of the genre, making special appearances on albums by Zeca Pagodinho and Reinaldo, O Príncipe do Pagode.

In 1990, her debut record was reissued by Warner Music and distributed nationwide, capitalizing on the booming popularity of the samba and pagode movement championed by artists like Almir Guineto and Fundo de Quintal. Her career peaked in 1991 with the release of the acclaimed album Ilumina, which featured contributions from renowned composers and musicians. The title track, written by Noca da Portela, Tuninho Nascimento, and Tranka, became a major radio hit and was later recorded by MPB icons such as Maria Bethânia.

Ana Clara's distinctive voice and contributions to collaborative compilations cemented her presence in Brazilian popular music alongside peers like Elymar Santos and Elza Soares. Her work remains a testament to the vibrant pagode scene of Rio de Janeiro during the late 20th century.
