Biography

Ana Maria Mazzotti was born in Caxias do Sul on August 17, 1950, standing out throughout her career as a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Since childhood, she dedicated herself to music by studying the accordion, piano, and harmonium, in addition to conducting choirs in Bento Gonçalves and leading the all-female group Merseybeat Ensemble in the 1960s. In 1968, she founded the octet Desenvolvymento, consolidating her presence in the musical scene with works that blended samba-jazz, funk, and bossa nova.

Throughout the 1970s, she released the studio albums Ninguém Vai Me Segurar in 1974 and Ana Mazzotti in 1977, followed by a live recording in 1982. Her artistic skill also left its mark on television when the track "Canto de Meditação" became part of the soundtrack for the telenovela O Profeta, reflecting her elaborate arrangements and strong sonic experimentation.

Unfortunately, her career was cut short prematurely by her passing due to cancer in São Paulo on January 20, 1988, at the age of 37. Years later, her work began to be rediscovered by collectors and genre enthusiasts, receiving tributes through documentaries such as Eu Sou Mais Eu and SOU Ana Mazzotti, as well as critically acclaimed international reissues.
