Biography

Ana Rabello is a Brazilian cavaquinist born in Rio de Janeiro on November 20, 1985. She is the daughter of renowned composer and cavaquinist Luciana Rabello and composer Paulo César Pinheiro. Rabello began her musical studies at the age of eight, initially learning piano. She later picked up the cavaquinho, inspired by observing her mother's playing and the choro music circles that took place at her home.

Rabello's formal musical education included studies at the Escola Portátil de Música, starting in 2000, where she also later served as a teacher. She was part of the wind orchestra Furiosa Portátil. In 2002, she co-founded the choro group Regional Carioca, which she led on the cavaquinho. The ensemble also featured her brother Julião Pinheiro on seven-string guitar, along with Tiago Souza (bandolim), Marcos Tadeu (pandeiro), Rafael Mallmith (six-string guitar), and Glauber Seixas (six-string guitar). With Regional Carioca, she released albums such as "Regional Carioca vol. 1" and "vol. 2".

Her discography includes participations in albums by prominent Brazilian artists such as Maria Bethânia, Martinho da Vila, and Paulo César Pinheiro. She has also contributed to recordings like "Santo e Orixá" by Gloria Bomfim and "Dois Bicudos." Rabello's career has also involved touring, including participation in the "Projeto Pixinguinha" in 2005, where she performed across Brazil accompanying sambistas Germano Mathias and Alfredo Del Penho. She is recognized for her technical skill and dedication to the choro genre, continuing a rich family tradition in Brazilian music.
