Biography

André Busic, born Andrija Busic on January 13, 1937, in Croatia, was a renowned jazz trumpeter and one of the pioneers of the genre in Brazil. He arrived in the country in 1960, settling in São Paulo, where he built a solid musical and family career. His influence on the Brazilian music scene is notable, especially for having been the father of Andria Busic and Ivan Busic, prominent figures in Brazilian rock, known for their work in the band Dr. Sin.

Throughout his career, André Busic was a member of important musical ensembles, such as the Traditional Jazz Band and the Blue Gang, in addition to leading the Hotline Jazz Band. His passion for traditional jazz stayed with him throughout his life, and he is remembered for his refined technique and the smoothness of his trumpet and voice. Even after becoming a well-established name, Busic maintained his enthusiasm for music, stating in an interview that his musical taste only grew with time, keeping him young and active.

André Busic's legacy transcends his musical work, extending to his family and the inspiration he provided to his children. His passing on February 14, 2022, at the age of 85, left a void in Brazilian jazz, but his work and memory continue to echo through the music and the generations that succeeded him, including his sons Andria and Ivan Busic.
