Biography

Antônio André de Sá Filho, better known as André Filho, was born in the city of Rio de Janeiro on March 21, 1906. Throughout his artistic career, he stood out as an actor, violinist, mandolinist, banjoist, pianist, composer, and singer, cementing his name in the history of Brazilian music.

During the 1930s, he had the opportunity to work and collaborate with some of the most notable artists of the era, such as Carmen Miranda, Mário Reis, and Noel Rosa. Among his most prominent works is the famous song "Cidade Maravilhosa", composed in 1934 and considered one of the most played songs in Rio de Janeiro's carnivals of all time.

The musician also left his mark through striking partnerships, such as the composition "Filosofia", created alongside Noel Rosa in 1933. André Filho passed away in his hometown on July 2, 1974, leaving an indelible legacy to Brazil's cultural heritage.
