Biography

André "Limão" Queiroz is a highly respected Brazilian drummer, composer, and percussionist, hailing from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. His musical journey began at the tender age of six, initially studying the trumpet under his father's tutelage. By nine, he had discovered percussion, and at fourteen, he fully embraced the drums, an instrument that would define his career. Queiroz honed his skills with notable drummers Lincoln Cheib and Esdra Ferreira (Neném), and furthered his education at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where he earned a degree in percussion and a master's title.

Throughout his extensive career, André "Limão" Queiroz has collaborated with a constellation of Brazilian music luminaries, including Milton Nascimento, Lô Borges, and Samuel Rosa, among many others. His talent as a composer has also been recognized, evidenced by his win at the BDMG Instrumental VII festival for his original compositions "Abril" and "Para os filhos." He also arranged music for Milton Nascimento's "From the Lonely Afternoon." His musicality is deeply influenced by the rich tradition of Minas Gerais music, often blending elements of bossa nova, jazz, and Brazilian popular music (MPB).
