Biography

André Magalhães is a highly accomplished Brazilian musician, producer, arranger, and sound engineer with over three decades of experience in the music industry. Born and raised in São Paulo, he developed a deep passion for music from a young age, influenced by his mother's love for Bossa Nova and her work as a guitar teacher. He began his musical studies with the piano before finding his primary instrument in the drums.

Magalhães's career gained momentum in the mid-1980s, drawing inspiration from progressive rock and the Vanguarda Paulista movement, which included artists like Itamar Assumpção and Arrigo Barnabé. His versatility is evident in his extensive work across various genres and projects. He has produced albums both in Brazil and internationally, mentored the Kromosons Brazil project, and performed alongside renowned Brazilian artists such as Jorge Vercilo, Paralamas do Sucesso, Ivete Sangalo, and Gilberto Gil.

His contributions extend to film soundtracks, including work on "Rio 2" in Hollywood with Carlinhos Brown and Sergio Mendes. Magalhães has also produced EPs and albums for artists like Ana Carolina, Kall Medrado, Carla Cristina, and Bruna Viola. He has received accolades such as the Prêmio Caymmi for Best Musical Production and a Master's certificate in arranging from Berklee College of Music, solidifying his reputation as an innovative and technically skilled artist in the Brazilian music scene.
