Biography
André Henrique, known artistically as André Whoong, is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from São Paulo. Born in 1985, he released his debut album, "1985", in 2015, exploring sounds inspired by 1980s Japanese pop, with influences from artists such as Yellow Magic Orchestra and Haruomi Hosono. His second album, "Justo Agora", was released in 2016.
Whoong is known for his musical versatility, playing various instruments such as guitar, bass, keyboard, synthesizers, electronic drums, among others. He also composes scores for film, television, and advertising. His partnership with singer Tiê is notable, having collaborated with her on several tracks and whose label, Rosa Flamingo, released his albums. Tiê also participated in some of his songs, such as "Me Queira Você" and "Por Favor".
The artist demonstrates a critical view of society in his lyrics, addressing themes such as religious fanaticism and political polarization, but he also explores personal issues, such as self-knowledge and maturation. His music moves between pop with melancholic and optimistic touches, reflecting his life experiences and musical influences.
