Biography

Andreas Rudolf Kisser was born in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, developing a deep interest in music from an early age that led him to explore everything from Brazilian popular music and classical to hard rock and heavy metal. Before achieving international renown, he was a member of groups such as Esfinge and Pestilence, building the technical and artistic foundations that would catch the attention of the underground scene.

His major turning point came in 1987, when he joined Sepultura following the departure of Jairo Guedez, quickly establishing himself as lead guitarist and a fundamental songwriter alongside musicians like Max Cavalera and Igor Cavalera. With his arrival, the band shaped seminal albums of global extreme metal such as Schizophrenia, Beneath the Remains, and Arise, redefining the course of global thrash metal.

In addition to his historic work in Sepultura, Kisser expanded his artistic activities through side projects, soundtracks for Brazilian cinema alongside names like Tony Bellotto and Charles Gavin, and a consistent solo career that included the acclaimed album Hubris I & II. Recognized as one of the greatest guitar icons in Brazil, he also joined international supergroups such as Hail! and De La Tierra, remaining one of the most prominent figures in South American heavy music.
