Biography

Antônio Carlos e Jocáfi is a prominent Brazilian duo formed in 1969 by musicians Antônio Carlos Marques Pinto and José Carlos Figueiredo, both born in Salvador. Throughout their career, the duo has consolidated a striking body of work in national music, with several of their compositions integrated into soap opera soundtracks, including as opening themes.

Among the duo's biggest hits is the song "Você abusou", which achieved great popularity in the voice of Maria Creuza, an artist whom Antônio Carlos would later marry. The musicians' repertoire also encompasses memorable tracks such as "Jesuíno Galo-Doido", "Dona Flor e Seus Dois Maridos", "Desacato", "Toró de lágrimas" and "Mas que doidice".

With an extensive discography that began in the 1970s with the RCA Victor label, the duo released striking albums such as Mudei de idéia, Cada segundo and the acclaimed recent work Alto da Maravilha. Antônio Carlos and Jocáfi's talent and relevance echoed beyond Brazilian borders, with international adaptations of their works by names like Michel Fugain.
