Biography

Antonio Villeroy is a prominent Brazilian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist born in São Gabriel, Rio Grande do Sul. Coming from a musical family—his father played piano and accordion, and his brother Gastão Villeroy is a well-known bassist and producer—he grew up surrounded by diverse musical influences ranging from regional folk and bossa nova to jazz and classical music. He began writing songs in his teens in Porto Alegre, eventually forming bands and establishing himself in the local music scene before gaining national prominence as one of MPB's most sought-after composers.

Villeroy achieved widespread acclaim through his prolific partnership with singer Ana Carolina, writing major hits for her such as "Garganta" and "Rosas," which became massive radio successes and telenovela themes. Beyond his work with Ana Carolina, his compositions have been recorded by legendary Brazilian artists including Maria Bethânia, Gal Costa, Ivan Lins, Seu Jorge, and João Donato, as well as international names like John Legend and Chiara Civello. His work frequently blends samba-funk, bossa nova, and jazz with Latin and European elements, earning him Latin Grammy nominations and numerous awards.
