Biography

Arismar do Espírito Santo was born in Santos on July 9, 1956, coming from a family deeply connected to music. Since childhood, he showed an interest in chords, learning to play the acoustic guitar at age 11 and becoming a self-taught drummer in his teens, before solidifying his career as a renowned multi-instrumentalist. Throughout his trajectory, he moved easily through genres such as jazz, samba, choro, and rock, standing out not only on the double bass and electric guitar, but also as a composer and arranger.

In the 1970s, he began participating in shows and recordings alongside major names in Brazilian music, such as Hermeto Pascoal, Toninho Horta, and César Camargo Mariano. His prominent solo recording career began in 1993 with the release of his first album, which would later be reissued in CD format to celebrate its tenth anniversary. In addition to his solid discography, Arismar has also performed internationally alongside artists such as Joyce and Leny Andrade.

The family's musicality extended to new generations, including his brother Paulo Roberto, his son Thiago Espírito Santo, and his daughter Bia Goes in the musical scene. Recognized by specialized critics, he was voted one of the ten best guitarists in Brazil by Guitar Player magazine in 1998, establishing himself as one of the most versatile and respected figures in Brazilian instrumental music.
