Biography

Armando Praça is a Brazilian sociologist, screenwriter, and filmmaker born in 1978 in Aracati, Ceará. He has established himself as a notable figure in contemporary Brazilian cinema, working as an assistant director, screenwriter, and acting coach for renowned filmmakers. His short and medium-length films have garnered international recognition, being selected for over 30 festivals worldwide, including prestigious events like Clermont-Ferrand and the Toulouse Latin American Festival. Among his directorial works are "The Bionic Woman," "The Clown's Love," "Origin: Destiny," and "Amusement Park."

Praça's directorial debut with his first feature film, "GRETA," starring Marco Nanini, premiered at the 69th Berlinale in 2019, marking a significant entry into the international film circuit. He followed this success with his second feature film, "Fortaleza Hotel," released in 2022. As a screenwriter, his credits include popular series such as "Me Chama de Bruna" (T1), "Betinho," "City of God," and "Maria Bonita," as well as feature films like "Paloma" by Marcelo Gomes and "O Personagem" by Fábio Mendonça. His third feature film, "Madrugada," is currently in pre-production.
