Aroldo Melodia, born Aroldo Forde, was a renowned Brazilian samba-enredo composer and singer. He is widely celebrated for his long and impactful career in the world of Rio de Janeiro's samba schools, most notably as the iconic voice of União da Ilha do Governador. He was also the father of fellow samba interpreter Ito Melodia.

Throughout his decades-long career, Aroldo became a legendary figure in carnival culture, beginning his journey with União da Ilha in 1958 and dedicating 36 years to the school. His powerful voice and distinctive performance style earned him recognition across various other schools, including Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel, Acadêmicos de Santa Cruz, Unidos da Ponte, and Caprichosos de Pilares. In 1986, his exceptional contributions were honored with an Estandarte de Ouro award. Known widely for his signature catchphrase "Segura a marimba!", he left an indelible mark on Brazilian popular culture before concluding his active career in 1996 following a stroke.

Aroldo Melodia passed away in 2008 at the age of 78, leaving behind a rich legacy in samba-enredo history. His immense influence on the genre places him alongside other greats of the carnival scene. He remains remembered through honors such as the Tamborim de Ouro and tributes from schools like Lins Imperial, cementing his status as a pillar of traditional Brazilian music alongside artists associated with the golden era of samba schools like Jamelão and Neguinho da Beija-Flor.
