Biography

Gabriel Eusébio dos Santos Lobo, better known as Ary Lobo, was born in Belém on August 14, 1930, and passed away in Fortaleza on August 22, 1980. He was an important Brazilian singer and songwriter, standing out as a fervent defender of traditional northern and northeastern roots music.

With a striking style similar to that of Jackson do Pandeiro, Ary Lobo performed various rhythms derived from baião, such as cocos and rojões. Throughout his career, he had hundreds of songs recorded by himself and other artists, as well as releasing several successful works through the record labels RCA, Cantagalo, SOM, Copacabana, Japoti, and Aladdin Records between the 1950s and 1980s.

His songs frequently portrayed the customs and life of the northern and northeastern people through humorous and popular compositions. Among his most celebrated recordings are tracks such as "O último pau de arara", "Eu vou pra lua", "Súplica Cearense", "Cheiro da gasolina", and "Madame Paraíba".
