Biography

Asa de Águia was one of the great exponents and phenomena of axé music, founded in Salvador in 1988 by Durval Lélys, Radi, Levi Pereira, Rambo, and Bajara. Throughout its trajectory, the group stood out for its innovative mix of tropical and Bahian rhythms, winning millions of fans throughout the national territory and accumulating impressive milestones in the Brazilian recording industry.

With memorable hits like "Dança do Vampiro", "Quebra Aê", and "Com Amor", the band led by Durval Lélys sold more than 5 million copies between CDs and DVDs, in addition to winning important awards, such as the gold record and the first double DVD in the history of axé. They also made history in the carnivals of Salvador and at the country's main micaretas with iconic blocs, sharing sound trucks and stages with big names of the scene like Ivete Sangalo.

The group officially ended its activities in 2014, leaving a lasting legacy in carnival music and influencing several generations of artists of the genre. Its strong presence in large indoor events and traditional blocs consolidated its name in the history of Brazilian popular culture, alongside exponents like Chiclete com Banana and Banda Eva.
