Biography
The band Attomica, originally known as Banda Atômica, was formed in October 1985 in the city of São José dos Campos, São Paulo. The initial proposal was to be the fastest heavy metal band in the world, featuring innovative riffs and beats for the time. The original lineup featured João Paulo (guitar), Mario Sanefuji (drums), Laerte Perr (vocals), Andre Rod (bass), and Pyda Rod (guitar). The first compositions were in Portuguese, but the band soon switched to English lyrics, which contributed to their national and international projection.
Throughout its career, Attomica went through several lineup changes, but maintained its identity in thrash metal. In 1987, they released their self-titled debut album, followed by "Limits of Insanity" (1989) and "Disturbing the Noise" (1991), the latter being a milestone in their discography and recognition abroad. The band ceased activities in 1994, but returned in 2003 with the "Attomica Reunion", releasing the live album "Back and Alive" in 2004.
In 2004, the band decided to remove the extra "T" from their name, becoming Atomica, later returning to Attomica in 2009, citing numerology influence. The band continued to release unreleased material, such as "4" (2012) and "The Trick" (2018), cementing their legacy in the Brazilian thrash metal scene. Attomica is recognized for its energy and speed, being considered one of the pioneers of thrash metal in Brazil, sharing the stage with major names in the genre like Kreator and Sepultura.
