Biography

Aurora Miranda was born in Rio de Janeiro on April 20, 1915, and distinguished herself as an important Brazilian actress and singer. Sister of the famous singer Carmen Miranda, she began her artistic career at Rádio Mayrink Veiga in 1932 and soon recorded her first record in partnership with Francisco Alves. Throughout the 1930s, she consolidated her success on the radio and in national cinema, participating in emblematic productions such as Alô, Alô, Carnaval and recording the celebrated march "Cidade Maravilhosa" alongside composer André Filho.

During the 1940s, she moved to the United States, where she lived for twelve years and expanded her international career. In the United States, she acted in Hollywood films and gave one of her most iconic performances in the Walt Disney classic The Three Caballeros, where she acted alongside animated characters such as Donald Duck and José Carioca to the sound of Ary Barroso's songs. The artist also joined the cast of productions alongside figures such as Tito Guízar and participated in important milestones of the Good Neighbor Policy in American cinema.

After returning to Brazil in 1952, she continued to be revered as one of the great pioneers of the golden age of Brazilian radio and cinema. In her later years, she still made notable special appearances, such as in the film Dias Melhores Virão, at the invitation of Marília Pera. Aurora Miranda passed away in December 2005, leaving a lasting legacy associated with the spirit of Rio de Janeiro and the history of Brazilian popular music.
