Biography

Avellar Love, whose birth name is Luiz Carlos de Avellar Júnior, is a Brazilian singer and actor who gained notoriety as the lead vocalist of the band João Penca e Seus Miquinhos Amestrados. Formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1977, initially under the name Zoo, the group stood out in the Brazilian music scene of the 1980s with their irreverence and humor, mixing rockabilly, doo-wop, surf music, and new wave. The band became known for parodying the 1950s and 1960s with provocative lyrics and costumes inspired by stars like Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry.

Alongside Selvagem Big Abreu and Bob Gallo, Avellar Love formed the trio of vocalists that propelled hits such as "Lágrimas de Crocodilo", "Calúnias (Telma, Eu Não Sou Gay)", "Romance em Alto Mar", "S.O.S. Miquinhos", and "Popstar". The band was also responsible for the opening of the TV show "Milk Shake", hosted by Angélica, and participated in the movie "Lua de Cristal", starring Xuxa. Their musical influences include groups like The Beach Boys and Sha Na Na, to which they added a Brazilian "spice and joy".

Currently, Avellar Love pursues a solo career, making guest appearances in shows and 80s revival parties, keeping the memory of unforgettable hits alive. He has also participated in Festa PLOC DVDs and acted in musicals and the telenovela "Rock Story". In 2011, he formed the group Avellar Love e seus Bonobos Regenerados to continue the legacy of Miquinhos Amestrados.
