Biography
Axé Bahia is a Brazilian musical group founded in the year 2000 on the initiative of Flaviana Seeling, who took on the leadership of the project and consolidated its international trajectory over the years. The ensemble achieved immense commercial repercussion and international fame thanks to the huge success of the hit "Beijo na Boca", which also gained an adapted Spanish-language version titled "Beso en la boca", achieving enormous public and sales success in various countries throughout Latin America.
Throughout its recording career, the group released landmark albums that popularized choreographies and contagious rhythms across the South and Central American continent, including prominent works such as the album Tudo bem and its sequels, as well as repertoires focused on summer and revamped hits with influences from artists and strands of axé music and Brazilian pop music, indirectly dialoguing with the festive imagery diffused by figures like Xuxa.
The ensemble's trajectory was also marked by tragic moments, such as the passing of member Barbosa in April 2016, following a fall from a building in the city of Santiago, Chile, a place where the group came to be based and maintain a strong artistic presence. Currently, Axé Bahia continues to be remembered as one of the main exponents of the diffusion of Brazilian music and dance abroad.
