Biography

Aylton Escobar was born in the city of São Paulo on October 14, 1943. He is a renowned Brazilian composer and conductor, having built a solid career in classical music and occupying chair number 25 of the Brazilian Academy of Music. During his training, he studied composition with important names such as Osvaldo Lacerda and Camargo Guarnieri at the Academia Paulista de Música, in addition to taking piano lessons with Lúcia Branco and conducting with Alceo Bocchino and Francisco Mignone.

His pursuit of improvement led him to the United States, where he studied electronic and electroacoustic music at Columbia University in New York, under the tutelage of Vladimir Ussachevsky. As a conductor, he directed important musical groups in the country, including the Minas Gerais Symphony Orchestra, the North/Northeast Philharmonic of Brazil, and the Campinas Symphony Orchestra. His artistic output also achieved international recognition, with compositions performed on major stages in cities such as Paris, Toledo, and Zagreb.

Throughout his career, he has received several awards at prestigious festivals, such as the Guanabara Music Festivals and those of the São Paulo Association of Art Critics, in addition to mentions on Vienna Radio. His choral work was recorded on disc by the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra Choir under the direction of Naomi Munakata, consolidating his relevance in the history of Brazilian classical music alongside masters like Francisco Mignone.
