Biography

Bernardo Ferreira Gomes dos Santos, known artistically as BNegão, was born in Rio de Janeiro on October 26, 1973. His musical journey is marked by boldness and the fusion of genres, which has established him as a unique figure in Brazilian music. He began his career back in school, forming bands with punk and electronic influences, and later migrated to groups like Juliete, where he explored soul, rock, and hip hop. His performance in the Rio underground scene caught attention, opening doors for more expressive projects.

BNegão gained national notoriety as the vocalist of the iconic band Planet Hemp, where he replaced founder Skunk. Alongside Marcelo D2 and other members, BNegão contributed hard-hitting lyrics and performative energy that defined the group's sound. Parallel to Planet Hemp, BNegão also led the band The Funk Fuckers, demonstrating his versatility and his interest in exploring different musical strands, such as funk and rock.

Following his definitive departure from Planet Hemp in 2005, BNegão founded the project BNegão & Os Seletores de Frequência. With this band, he deepened his sonic research, blending rap, hardcore, dub, funk, and reggae, always with lyrics engaged in social and political issues. The album "Enxugando Gelo" (2003) was a landmark, made available for free download on the internet, anticipating music distribution trends. "TransmutAção" (2015) and "Sintoniza Lá" (2012) are other acclaimed works with Os Seletores de Frequência, which solidified his reputation as an innovative and socially conscious artist.
