Biography
Babado Novo is a Brazilian axé music band founded in Salvador, Bahia, in 2001. The group achieved major national prominence starting in 2003, under the original leadership of singer Claudia Leitte and with instrumentalists like Sérgio Rocha and Alan Moraes, charting several hits that left a mark on the Brazilian music scene.
After Claudia Leitte's departure to pursue a solo career in 2008, the band underwent lineup changes, temporarily featuring vocalists Guga de Paula and Igor Di Ferreira. Starting in 2012, singer Mari Antunes took over as lead vocalist, keeping the group active with new releases, soundtrack features, and tours across the country.
Throughout its trajectory in axé, the group has established itself as one of the prominent names in the Bahian carnival and tropical pop music in Brazil, collaborating and connecting with artists such as Ivete Sangalo, Tomate, and the group Psirico.
